Knot formed in São Paulo in the early 2000s, originally calling themselves Resistance. The band included Fernando Almeida on vocals, Bruno Melo and João Victor Mello on guitars, Roberto de Carvalho on drums, and Paulillo on bass. They built a following in their hometown with a raw, energetic rock sound.
Their debut album 'Eu Sou Knot' came out in 2006 and brought them national attention. Three years later, 'Meu Coração, Seu Coração' became one of their most popular records, with the title track turning into something of an anthem. The album also included songs like 'O Amor' and 'Tarde de outono'.
Drummer Roberto de Carvalho left the band in 2011, and Gustavo Telles joined to take his place. Knot's lyrics sometimes addressed social issues, which drew both support and criticism. In 2015, a concert in São Paulo was canceled over safety concerns raised by local authorities.
