Korovakill

Korovakill formed in Brussels in 1987 with Christian Vanderborght on vocals and guitar, Marc Moulin on bass and vocals, and Eric Malliet on drums. Their music pulled from post-punk, industrial, and folk, though it never settled neatly into any one category. They released their debut album 'All Statues Leave Their Stones' in 1990, which included the track 'Blue Thrones...' and established their unsettling, atmospheric sound.

In 1996, they collaborated with Iggy Pop on the album 'Gimme Danger,' bringing their experimental approach to a more visceral energy. Songs like 'Drown Symphony' and 'The ShadowHordes' from their catalog reflect the band's tendency toward themes of mortality and alienation, delivered with a haunting, sometimes aggressive musical backdrop.

Korovakill maintained an underground following through their uncompromising vision, though they faced the typical strains of shifting music trends and industry pressures. Their work has been noted by later experimental acts, but the band itself remains something of an enigma, a Brussels trio that carved out a peculiar space in the late '80s and '90s without much concern for fitting in.
