Vinícius handled vocals and cavaquinho while Marcelo played surdo and pandeiro. They began performing on the city's streets, though some traditional samba listeners were skeptical of their approach.
Their song 'Madeirou e Tchau!' became particularly well-known, with its energetic rhythm and playful lyrics. The band also recorded tracks like 'Não Me Deixe' and 'Abraçadinho' that showed their take on samba. They released several albums including Samba Funk in 1997, Na Praça in 2000, and Tudo Azul in 2003.
Kortesia do Samba's music incorporated elements beyond traditional samba, which drew both criticism and interest. They continued performing and recording, putting out the album Madeirou e Tchau! in 2006 and later a live recording from a circus venue.
