Korvus started as Mortem in the early 2000s, releasing demos before changing their name in 2008. They came from the Norwegian underground scene, playing black metal with themes drawn from Transylvanian folklore and the occult.
Their debut album 'Transilvanian Hunger' came out in 2010 and included a cover of Darkthrone's song of the same name. The record dealt with death and supernatural imagery, creating an atmospheric sound that felt both raw and haunting.
After that first album, they put out 'Of Death and Despair' and kept working in the same vein. Their music stayed focused on dark themes without much compromise, which drew some criticism but also maintained a dedicated following in extreme metal circles.
