Kru is an Indonesian rock band that started in Jakarta in the early 1990s. The original lineup included vocalist Ikmal Tobing, bassist Harry Moekti, guitarist Dimas Pradipta, and drummer Gilang Ramadhan. Their debut album, 'Diari Metropolitan', came out in 1994 and its title track became a hit, pulling them from the underground into wider recognition.
Their music often dealt with social themes, and they faced some pushback for it. They kept putting out records anyway, with later albums like 'Domba Hitam' and 'Berbeda' exploring topics like injustice and identity.
Over time, their sound shifted from straightforward rock to something more varied and experimental. They've released nine studio albums in total, including songs like 'Ain't Got No Soul' and 'Apa Saja'.
