KRU2 formed in Malaysia in the late 1990s as a hip-hop group led by Edry Abdul Halim, known as Edry KRU, with his brothers Norman and Razman Abdul Halim. Their debut album 'Kru' came out in 1998 and found an audience quickly, mixing hip-hop and pop with some Malay elements. They followed it with albums like 'Gerak Khas' in 1999 and 'K.R.U.' in 2001.
Their song 'TÚ' is one of their better-known tracks. They worked with other Malaysian artists including Siti Nurhaliza and M Nasir.
Edry KRU wrote much of their material and produced some of it. The group's sound leaned on hip-hop rhythms and pop melodies, and they kept recording through the 2000s with albums like 'Orient Essential' in 2005.
