Editor's note

Kudai, the Chilean teen pop quartet that grew up

A Chilean pop group that started as teenagers in 2004, known for songs like 'Sin Despertar' and 'Morir de Amor.'

For the early sound, 'Sin Despertar' still has that rush. Their later return is framed pretty well by 'Disfraz' from 2016.

Kudai arrived right when Latin teen pop was finding its voice in the mid-2000s. Their debut 'Vuelo' had the urgency of 'Sin Despertar,' and 'Sobrevive' gave them 'Morir de Amor,' a track that still gets mentioned. They were one of those groups that soundtracked a specific moment for a lot of people.

They formed in Santiago in 2004 as a teenage quartet. After their second album 'Sobrevive' and a lineup change in 2006, they released 'Nadha' before going on hiatus in 2010. They came back in 2016 with 'Laberinto,' which included the song 'Disfraz.'
