Kumbia Hits formed in Monterrey, Mexico in 1996, with an original lineup that included Cruz Martínez on vocals, Ricky Rick on accordion, Abelardo Vásquez on bass, Oscar Avilés on guitar, and José Cruz Martínez on drums. They played cumbia, a Latin rhythm. Their debut album "Dale Vuelta" came out in 1997.
In 2005, Cruz Martínez left the group to pursue a solo career. The band regrouped with a new vocalist, Angelo Medina, and began experimenting with a more pop-oriented sound while keeping their cumbia roots. They released albums like "La Fiesta" in 2006 and "La Raza" in 2008. One of their songs is "Soy Ramon."
