L. Shout came together in Brazil in 2003 with Leonardo "Leozito" Leal on vocals and guitar, Léo Rocha on bass, and Marcus "Marcão" Vinícius on drums. Their debut album "O Sonho Não Acabou" found an audience quickly, anchored by the track "Sol de Amanhã," which became something of an anthem in the country's pop-punk scene at the time.
Leal has been the band's primary songwriter and frontman. Their music drew from pop-punk acts like Blink-182 and Green Day, as well as Brazilian rock bands such as Raimundos and Charlie Brown Jr. They followed their debut with albums like "Nunca Mais" and "Um Novo Amanhã."
Some of their lyrics sparked debate. A song called "Meu Mundo" was criticized and faced temporary radio bans in some places over its content.
