La Banda Del 5 formed in Monterrey in the 1990s, a group of friends who started playing local venues. Their 2003 debut album was called "Corazón Ranchero." The next year, their single "La Otra Cara" became a national hit in Mexico, with lyrics that connected with listeners and a melody people remembered.
They kept recording through the 2000s and 2010s, putting out albums like "A Mil Por Hora" in 2005, "Te Amo" in 2007, "El Amor Es" in 2010, and "Mi Último Beso" in 2015. The band's lineup included Saúl "El Jaguar" Alarcón on vocals, David "El Profe" Záizar on accordion, Samuel "El Coyote" González on drums, Fabián "El Flaco" Elizondo on guitar, and Daniel "El Mago" Morales on bass.
In 2013, there was a legal dispute over the rights to "La Otra Cara," which was eventually settled. The band has also faced accusations of plagiarism, which they've denied.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
