La Banda del Diablo formed in 2006 in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, put together by Wally Cueto. Their sound mixed merengue and bachata with electronic beats, which didn't fit neatly into the usual Dominican music categories at the time.
Their track "Chacarron" became a hit, reaching listeners well beyond their home country. Another song, "Zapatillas," also found an audience.
They released several albums, starting with "Protagonistas" in 2008, followed by "El Pueblo" in 2010, "La Maldita Banda" in 2013, and "El Imperio" in 2016. Cueto remained the vocalist and central figure through these recordings.
