La Familia Roots started in 2012 in São Paulo with four members: Alexandre Carlo, Felipe Cordeiro, Rodrigo Felga, and Rafael Oliveira. They played small venues early on, mixing Brazilian rhythms like samba and forró with reggae. Their sound built a local following without much initial attention.
In 2017, the single "Não Chore Mais" broke through, becoming a hit across Brazil. That led to festival slots at places like Rock in Rio and Lollapalooza. Other songs like "Seu Olhar" and "Vibe Positiva" kept their vibe going, with lyrics that leaned toward soulful, uplifting themes over flashy production.
They haven't chased trends much since then, sticking to a blend that feels grounded in their São Paulo roots. The music stays straightforward, guitar, bass, drums, and vocals, without overcomplicating things.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
