La Hermanastra Más Fea was an indie rock band from Mexico City that started in the early 2000s. The group had four members: Carolina Farías on vocals and guitar, Ruy García on guitar and backing vocals, Saúl Hernández on bass and backing vocals, and Ernesto Martínez on drums.
They released their first album, "Círculos en el Rio, Pt. 3," in 2003. That record established their sound, which mixed ambient, shoegaze, and folk elements with introspective lyrics. The band followed it with several more albums through 2011, including "La Belleza Es Una Mentira" in 2005 and "Anónimos" in 2011.
Some listeners found their music unconventional, and they faced criticism from traditionalists who called it strange or uncommercial. They kept making music their own way regardless, and developed a cult following in Mexico's indie scene.
