La Hoguera formed in Granada in the early 1980s with Juan Antonio Valero on vocals, Ángel Doblas and Rafael González on guitars, Antonio Moya on bass, and Pepe Ponce on drums. Their name comes from the Spanish word for bonfire.
Their debut album came out in 1984, and the song "El Brujo" became particularly well-known. They also recorded tracks like "El Bufon" and "El Juego Eterno."
There were some personal conflicts and allegations around the band that created difficulties, but they kept making music through it.
