Their sound mixed Tejano traditions with pop touches, and they had a breakthrough in the late 1980s. The song "Me Estoy Enamorando" became a staple for them, though their catalog includes tracks like "Por Que" and "Vida" from their 1993 album of the same name.
In 1995, the band was in a bus accident that killed two members, Dave Gonzalez and Robert Saenz. They kept working after that, putting out records like "Unidos" in 1996 and "Eternamente" in 2015. Other musicians like Joe Ojeda on saxophone and Timoteo Carrillo on bass have been part of their lineup over time.
They've recorded a number of albums, including "La Mafia" in 1989 and "Nuestra Historia" in 2003. Their music has drawn some criticism from Tejano purists, but they've maintained a presence without drastically changing their approach.
