La Nueva Invasión came together in Mexico City around the late 1960s. The group had four members: Raúl "El Güero" Castro on vocals, Arturo "El Rikas" Huerta on guitar, Mario "El Chato" Olvera on bass, and José "El Güil" Guzmán on drums. They put out their first album in 1971, simply called "La Nueva Invasión."
A year later, they released the song "Serpiente Dios," which became their most well-known track. It appeared on an album of the same name in 1972. The band's sound mixed psychedelic rock and blues with some Mexican rhythms. They followed up with another album, "Plenitud," in 1974.
Their lyrics sometimes dealt with social or political themes, which led to some issues with censorship early on. They recorded a retrospective collection in 1990.
