L.A. Symphony formed in the early 2000s around singer-songwriter Mike Daly, with drummer Richard Dodd and bassist Chris Andrews. They released their debut album 'Broken Tape Decks' in 2004, which gave them their most recognizable song. That track, along with others like 'Dance Like' and 'Less Than Zero,' established their sound, a kind of dreamy indie rock with ethereal harmonies.

The band took a break in 2006 but came back together in 2008 to put out 'The Subtlest Crime.' They followed it with 'All This Time' in 2011. In 2012, allegations of sexual misconduct against Daly surfaced; he acknowledged his mistakes in a statement. The group hasn't released new music since.

Their catalog is small, just those three albums, but songs like 'Broken Tape Decks' and 'What You Say' still get play. The music holds up as straightforward indie rock without much fuss, built on Daly's songwriting and the trio's arrangements.
