Their sound moved beyond straightforward R&B into rock and funk territory, and they became known for theatrical stage outfits and energetic performances.
Their 1974 album "Phoenix" included "Um Dia Livre," a Portuguese-language song about freedom. The group's lyrics sometimes touched on social themes, which stood out in mainstream R&B at the time. They recorded together until 1976 before each member pursued solo work.
