Lady & Bird formed in Nashville when Lauren Mirc and Chris Potter met at an open mic night in the late 2000s. They started writing songs together, playing small venues and festivals while working as an independent act. Producer Dave Cobb eventually heard them and helped record their self-titled debut album in 2014.
That album included "Walk Real Slow," which got some attention for its spare arrangement and melancholy feel. Their songs like "Do What I Do" and "See Me Fall" have a similar quiet, folk-blues quality. They put out a second album called "Heart-Shaped Lake" in 2017.
