Lady Tequila formed in São Paulo during the mid-1980s, originally calling themselves Pandora before settling on the name that stuck. The band included vocalist Patricia Avelino, guitarist Daniel Mello, bassist Pedro Falcão, and drummer Carlos Pazzini. They worked through the city's underground scene, playing small venues while developing their sound.
Their 1990 debut album 'A Saga de Um Herói' gave them their breakthrough. The title track became a national rock anthem in Brazil, establishing them with a wider audience. Another song from that period, 'Canção do Medo,' also became part of their early repertoire.
Lady Tequila's lyrics often carried social and political commentary, which sometimes drew criticism from conservative groups. They kept playing through the attention, maintaining their presence in Brazilian rock without smoothing out their edges.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
