Lágrimas e Pecados formed in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1990s, with Eduardo Falaschi on vocals, Rafael Bittencourt on guitar, André Matos on keyboards, and Bruno Valverde on bass. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2001, and its lead single "Como Você Me Deixou?" became a hit in Brazil.
The band's sound mixed heavy metal and power metal, with Falaschi's vocals over guitar riffs and drums. Their lyrics often dealt with personal themes like heartbreak, which you can hear in songs like "Como Você Me Deixou?"
In 2005, Matos and Valverde left the group after disagreements about the music's direction. Falaschi and Bittencourt brought in new members to keep going.
