An accordionist and songwriter who built a catalog of traditional forró songs over more than a decade.
For a sense of his sound, 'Meu São João' and 'Embalaê' are good places to start. They're straightforward forró tunes with that familiar accordion drive.
He came up in the forró scene with a sound rooted in his accordion playing and regional rhythms. A song like 'Meu São João' shows his feel for the genre's danceable pulse and vocal style. The 2009 debut 'Flor do Norte' gave him an early foothold, and he's kept recording albums steadily since.
He started as a teenager in Crato, Ceará, writing songs and playing accordion. After 'Flor do Norte' in 2009, he put out records like 'Acústico' in 2010 and 'Forró das Antigas' in 2014. More recently there's 'Só Forró' from 2018 and 'Pagode do Lailton' from 2020.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
