Lajon Witherspoon is the vocalist for the metal band Sevendust, which formed in 1994 with guitarists John Connolly and Clint Lowery, bassist Vince Hornsby, and drummer Morgan Rose. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1997 and included songs like 'Black' and 'Angel's Son.'
In 2002, Sevendust released the album 'Animosity,' which featured 'Love Song.' That track became one of their most recognizable songs, built around Witherspoon's vocals and straightforward lyrics.
Witherspoon grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida, and has mentioned blues, soul, and heavy metal as early influences on his singing style. Sevendust has continued recording and touring since the 1990s, putting out more than a dozen studio albums.
