Lakelands formed in Los Angeles around 2015. Their debut single "Dreamer" came out in 2017, followed by an EP the next year and a first album called "Departure" in 2019. The band includes Mia Delamar on vocals, Ethan James on guitar, Liam Carter on bass, and Daniel Hayes on drums.
In 2019, someone claimed the melody of "Dreamer" resembled an earlier work. The band denied it. They put out a second album, "Ascension," in 2021.
Their music has drawn listeners with its ethereal melodies and heartfelt lyrics. While "Dreamer" remains their best-known track, their later work has shown some range.
