The band took its name from frontman Lalau Souza and included percussionist Adriana Macêdo, bassist Chico Gomes, and guitarist Danilo Souza in its initial lineup. Their sound drew from samba, axé, and reggae traditions of the region.
In 2004 they released their self-titled debut album, which featured the track 'Marcas' with Canindé Moreno. The song became a national hit in Brazil and brought the band wider recognition. Their lyrics often addressed social justice themes, with 'Marcas' specifically touching on police violence against Black youth.
The band's music served as a platform for social commentary while maintaining danceable rhythms. They continued performing and recording, though the existing information about their later work is limited.
