Lance Love formed in Porto in the late 1990s with Rui Rego on vocals, Pedro Oliveira on guitar, Ricardo Oliveira on bass, and Paulo Barros on drums. Their debut album 'Tudo Pode Mudar' came out in 1999, and its title track became popular across Portugal.
In 2001, the band released their second album 'O Amor É Maior,' which included 'Amor ou Ficção.' The song's melody and Rego's lyrics about love and loss connected with listeners, though some found the content about addiction and mental health too direct. It became their most recognized work.
After that period, Lance Love went through some lineup changes. They also recorded 'Compulsão,' another song that stayed in their setlists.
