They were fronted by vocalist Zé Maria and guitarist Zico, and their music mixed punk and hard rock with Angolan rhythms. Their lyrics, in Kimbundu and Portuguese, often dealt with poverty and injustice.
They faced censorship and police intimidation early on, which pushed them to play secret gigs and distribute music informally. In 1998, they released their debut album 'Mufundo', which found an audience despite the challenges.
Songs like 'Lembra Na Mi' and 'X Di Som' became anthems for Angolan youth at the time, with 'Lembra Na Mi' in particular sticking around as a classic. The band's raw energy and political edge gave them a distinct place in the scene.
