Lanis formed in Fortaleza, Ceará in the late 1990s with Ana Cléa on vocals, Arthur De La Peña on guitar, Igor Rodrigues on bass, and Rafael Castro on drums. They spent their early years rehearsing and working out their sound, which didn't quite fit the prevailing musical norms at the time.
In 2004, they released "Férias Na Lua," a song with raw, melancholic lyrics about longing and loss. It became a hit despite some initial criticism, and it's the track most people remember them by.
Their debut album was called "Dentro."
