Lantier Jacques

Lantier Jacques was a French singer who recorded in the mid-20th century. His 1950 song "Quand Les Lilas Refleuriront" became a well-known ballad in France, and he had other popular recordings like "Ah! C'qu'on s'aimait!" and "L'hirondelle Du Faubourg." The existing catalog lists about eight of his songs that people still look up.

He worked with musicians including Pierre Grosz on guitar, Jacques Blier on bass, and Michel Boujenah on accordion. They made records together through the 1950s and into the 1970s, with albums like "Les Gens Qui S'Aiment" in 1953 and "La Vie, C'Est Comme Ça" in 1972.

There was some talk about him being outspoken, and he apparently got into trouble over comments about the Algerian War in 1962. He died in 1986. People still listen to his recordings, particularly the lilac song and a few others that show up in old French music collections.
