Lápis Graffite formed in Santo André, São Paulo in the early 2000s. The group included brothers Vinícius and Renato Brown along with Felipe Boaventura and Gustavo Louzada. They released their self-titled debut album in 2008.
Their song 'Segundos' became something of an anthem for them. The 2011 album 'Transistor' followed, and they put out several more records including 'Seguindo os Ponteiros' in 2013. Their lyrics often touched on social themes and personal reflection, which sometimes drew criticism from certain groups.
They kept making music through the 2010s, releasing about seven studio albums in total. The work moved from a raw early sound toward more introspective territory without losing its connection to Brazilian musical forms.
