Laquatal was a Dutch hip-hop duo from Amsterdam, active in the 1990s. The group consisted of rapper Jawat and producer DJ Hi-Fi, who met at a local youth center in the late 1980s. They worked during a time when hip-hop was still finding its footing in the Netherlands.
Their debut album 'Hiphop in de Ban' came out in 1997. The single 'Clark Wallabe (Wat Doe Je Dan?)' from that album became a national hit in the Netherlands. Their lyrics often addressed social issues, which drew both attention and criticism from some quarters.
