Larissa Tariane came up in Salvador, Bahia, where she grew up around samba and bossa nova. She started performing in her early twenties with bassist Gustavo Oliveira and drummer Pedro Pereira. Their first album, "Alma Cigana," came out in 2012.
That record had a song called "Sinto Falta" that got some attention. It's a ballad about missing someone, and it became the thing people knew her for. The album did well enough that she and the band started getting noticed beyond their local scene.
In 2017 she put out a second album called "Livre." People who heard it said it sounded more personal than the first one. She was still writing and singing, but the tone had shifted a bit.
