Four sisters from Córdoba who mixed flamenco with merengue and accidentally created a global dance craze.
If you only know 'Aserejé,' check out 'Tengo Un Novio Tántriko' for more of their signature upbeat sound. Both tracks capture that moment when their flamenco roots met dancefloor energy.
Their 2002 single 'Aserejé' became an international phenomenon, topping charts in numerous countries with its blend of Spanish, English, and playful nonsense lyrics. The song's Dominican merengue rhythms mixed with their Andalusian flamenco foundation created something that spread globally despite controversies about its melody origins. Beyond that hit, songs like 'Tengo Un Novio Tántriko' maintained their upbeat, danceable style.
They started performing traditional flamenco at local festivals in the late 1990s before shifting to mix that foundation with merengue rhythms for their 2002 debut 'Hijas del Tomate.' After the massive success of 'Aserejé,' they released a second album in 2006 called 'Un Bloqueo' that didn't reach the same commercial heights, then settled into a quieter career.
