Archive material and source history
Las Románticas formed in Mexico City in 1995 as a group of four women: Claudia Brant, Lolita de la Colina, Mónica Vélez, and Tere Farfán. Their debut album 'Te Amo' came out the following year, with the title track becoming a hit. They released several more albums through the 2000s, including 'Un Beso de Amor' in 1998 and 'Cómo Me Duele' in 2000.
Their music videos sometimes drew criticism for being provocative, but the group kept working. They put out records like 'Enamorada' in 2002 and 'Románticas' in 2004, followed by 'Te Amo... Para Siempre' in 2006 and a greatest-hits collection in 2008. The song 'Te Amo' remained their best-known work.
