Las Wachiturras came out of Argentina in 2011 with a reggaeton track called "Traka Bum Bum" that caught on quickly. The song had a simple, driving rhythm and became popular enough to push the group into the spotlight for a while. They were five guys from Villa ItatÃ, a neighborhood in Argentina, who went by stage names like Wachiturro 1 through 5.
Their music mixed reggaeton with some cumbia and hip-hop, and the lyrics often touched on street life and everyday struggles. They put out two albums in the early 2010s: a self-titled one in 2011 and "No Me Importa" the following year. Along with "Traka Bum Bum," they had other singles like "La Costumbre" and "El Reggaeton Loco."
Their style wasn't for everyone, some found the lyrics and performances too explicit or raw. That reaction, along with some legal issues over songwriting, made their run fairly brief. But for a period, their sound reached beyond Argentina into other parts of South America.
