Lassaval Farias formed in 2004 in Salvador with four members: Lassaval, Assis Farias, Carlinhos Príncipe, and Marquinhos. They started out trying to revive traditional Bahian sounds while dealing with the usual early struggles of a new band.
Their songs like 'Faça Xixi No Banheiro' and 'Baby Eu Te Amo' have a straightforward, rhythmic quality that caught on locally. Some listeners felt they were simplifying the music too much, while others appreciated hearing those rhythms at all.
They kept playing as a quartet with Lassaval on vocals and guitar, Assis Farias on vocals and percussion, Carlinhos Príncipe on bass, and Marquinhos on drums. Their music stayed grounded in those Bahian folk patterns without trying to dress them up too much.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
