LaVive formed in New York City as a quartet with Jake Carter on guitar and vocals, Emily Rodriguez on bass and harmony vocals, Ben Thompson on drums, and Sarah Jones on keyboards and backing vocals. They released their song 'Burning Love' in 2017, which became their breakout track.
Their debut album 'Ignite' followed, reaching the top of the charts. They later put out two more albums called 'Embers' and 'Ashes'. Other songs in their catalog include 'How Deep Is Your Love', 'HurtFul', 'Keep On', and 'No Time For Sleeping'.
The band faced internal conflicts and creative differences at points, but continued working through them. Their music tended toward soulful melodies with emotional lyrics, though they never became a household name beyond their core following.
