Layout formed in Porto in 2004 as a Portuguese pop-rock band. The original lineup included Ana Matos on vocals, Pedro Marques on guitar, Miguel Majer on bass, and Marcos Guimarães on drums.
Their 2005 single "Palavras Insuficientes" became a breakthrough hit in Portugal.
They released several albums over the following years, including 2008's "Fazer o Que Faz Sentido," 2012's "Tudo Está no Seu Lugar," and 2016's "Som." Other songs like "Não Vou Deixar!" and "Pra Te Olhar" continued in their accessible pop-rock vein.
In 2010, Miguel Majer left the band and was replaced by Hugo Tavares on bass.
