Archive material and source history

Le Orme formed in 1966 in Marghera, a suburb of Venice. The original lineup included Aldo Tagliapietra on vocals and bass, Gian Piero Reverberi on keyboards, Nino Smeraldi on drums, and Claudio Galieti on guitar. They started playing when Italian progressive rock was just beginning to take shape.

Their 1973 album 'Felona e Sorona' became a notable release for the band. Around that time, Galieti left and was replaced by Tolo Marton. Reverberi departed in 1979, and Michele Bon joined, bringing more electronic elements to their sound. Songs like 'Aspettando L'alba' and 'Immagini' show their blend of progressive structures with melodic sensibility.

Le Orme recorded over twenty albums, including 'Uomo di Pezza' in 1971, 'Collage' in 1973, 'Contrappunto' in 1977, and 'Florian' in 1979. Their music incorporated classical and jazz touches while maintaining an Italian lyrical approach.
