Leana Ribner grew up in Campos do Jordão, Brazil, where she sang in local churches as a teenager. Her first solo album came out in 2004, titled Poder do Espírito after its lead track. That song, along with others like A Fidelidade do Senhor and Move As Águas, became staples in Brazilian gospel circles.
Before going solo, she sang with the band Anjos de Resgate. Her recordings since then include Meu Lugar in 2006, Acústico - Vol. 1 in 2008, and more recent albums like Emanuel in 2018 and Live in Rio in 2021. She performs with musicians like Rafael Brito on piano and Vitor Souza on guitar.
Some listeners questioned whether her style fit within traditional Christian music, but she kept recording and performing. Her music stays grounded in gospel themes without much studio polish, which gives it a direct, congregational feel.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
