Leandro de Oliveira

Leandro de Oliveira came up in São Paulo, where he started singing in local bars and clubs. His debut album 'Perdido de Amor' came out in the late 1990s, and its single 'Sem Você' became a hit across Brazil. The song's straightforward lyrics about missing someone connected with listeners, and it remains his best-known track.

In 2002, he was arrested on drug possession charges, which complicated his public image for a time. He worked through that period and kept recording music, putting out albums like 'De Volta' in 2004 and 'Um Novo Tempo' in 2007. He has worked with musicians including Jorge Ben Jor and Ivan Lins, and his guitarist and producer Alexandre Aposan has been a steady presence in his band.

His music draws from samba and funk, along with pop and soul influences. While 'Sem Você' established him as a romantic ballad singer, his later records show him trying different approaches without straying too far from what his audience expects.
