Leandro Guitta came from Santo Antônio de Padua in Minas Gerais. He worked as an independent singer-songwriter, drawing on the folk traditions of his region. His debut album 'Companheira Lua' came out in 2003.
That album's title track became his most recognizable song, along with 'O Jeito de Amar.' His lyrics often dealt with love and the night sky, delivered with a quiet, haunting quality that felt personal rather than theatrical.
Guitta maintained a somewhat private presence outside his music, which led to various rumors about his life. He built a following through live performances rather than industry machinery. His catalog stayed modest in size, focused on the atmospheric sound he established early on.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
