Leandro Prado

Leandro Prado grew up in Itumbiara, Goiás, where his grandfather taught him to play the viola and tell stories through song. He started writing his own material as a teenager, drawing on the folklore and rural traditions of that part of Brazil.

In the early 2000s, he released "A Saga de Um Violeiro Lobisomem," a ballad about a guitarist who turns into a werewolf. The song's mix of traditional viola playing and supernatural storytelling caught on, and it remains his best-known work. Other songs like "Coração Descabriado" and "Forró de Tabelião" show his range within that regional style.

Prado kept recording after that, putting out albums like O Canto do Violeiro Lobisomem in 2003 and O Retorno do Violeiro Lobisomem in 2006. His lyrics sometimes drew criticism for being too dark or explicit, but he developed a steady following anyway.
