Leash Law formed in Atlanta in 2003, playing a mix of alt-rock and post-hardcore. Their 2005 debut album 'Asymmetry' established their sound, with aggressive guitars and melodic touches. The band's 2007 album 'Better When Betrayed' included the track '(Better When) Betrayed,' which became a fan favorite.
Frontman Jordan Reyne wrote lyrics that often dealt with themes of betrayal and personal struggle. Other songs from their catalog like 'Banion,' 'Dogface,' and 'Hail To Blood' reflect this direct, sometimes confrontational approach. In 2011 they released 'The Fire Within,' which showed a shift toward more melodic and experimental territory.
The band faced some public challenges, including a lawsuit from a former manager in 2009 and an arrest involving Reyne in 2013. These events didn't stop their output, but they became part of the band's story in Atlanta's alternative scene.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
