Lee Clayton was a band from Los Angeles that formed in the early 1970s. They put out their first album, also called 'The Dream Goes On,' in 1972. The title track from that record is the song people still remember.
Their lineup included Lee Clayton on vocals, Mark Cunningham on guitar, Jim Baker on bass, and Tom Harris on drums. They followed that first album with a few others in the mid-to-late 70s, like 'Bluer Side of Life' and 'Phoenix.'
There were some rough patches along the way, including an arrest for drug possession in the middle of the decade. The band kept going for a while after that, but 'The Dream Goes On' is what stuck.
