Leen Jongewaard

Leen Jongewaard was a Dutch singer who became known for the 1962 single "He, he, word wakker." The song's folk melody and direct lyrics connected with listeners and became something of a standard. She recorded other songs like "Als je oud bent" and "De Haagse ambtenaar," often working with musicians including guitarist Jan de Hont and bassist Cees Berman.

Her material sometimes drew criticism for its subject matter. A song called "De Zwarte Riek," released in 1967, dealt with prostitution and social issues, which sparked debate at the time. She kept recording through the 1970s and into the 1980s with albums like "Wie gaat er mee" and "Nu."
