Archive material and source history

Leeroy was an electropop band that had a breakthrough with their 1998 single "Cougars." The song became a hit in multiple countries, though its subject matter about older women dating younger men raised some eyebrows at the time. They followed it with another track called "Personne."

Their self-titled album came out in 1999, followed by "Ladybird" in 2001. The band included LeRoy Bell on vocals, Gavin Rossdale on guitar, Deon Estus on bass, and Mark King on drums. They had put out an EP two years before "Cougars."

Some critics called them a manufactured band and questioned their eclectic mix of pop, rock, and electronic sounds. They kept going anyway, putting out a compilation in 2003.
