Lefay formed in 2004 with vocalist Mara Merlino and multi-instrumentalist Manuel Pisilli. They self-released their debut album "Terra" in 2006 after their original record label folded. The album received some critical attention but didn't find a wide audience.
Their 2011 album "Harga" changed things. The title track became a hit across Europe, though it also sparked some debate about its lyrical content. That album brought them more international recognition than they'd had before.
After "Harga," they kept recording. "Insanity" came out in 2013, followed by "The Black Album" in 2017. Songs like "Last Rites," "As Far As I Can Go," and "Bloodred Sky" show the range of their work, from more atmospheric pieces to darker, more experimental material.
