Lefty Frizzell was born William Orville Frizzell in 1928 in Corsicana, Texas. He started playing guitar and singing at local gatherings, drawing from Western swing and traditional country sounds. Some early listeners thought his singing style was too unorthodox, but he kept at it.
His songs like 'Always Late With Your Kisses' and 'Saginaw Michigan' became country standards. He also recorded 'All Of Me Loves All Of You' and 'You're Just Mine.' There was a legal dispute over the rights to his hit 'If You've Got the Money, I've Got the Time,' which he eventually regained control of.
Frizzell worked with Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, and Kitty Wells. His band was called The Drifting Cowboys. People sometimes called him 'Mr. Country Gentleman.'
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
