Leandro Raes is a Brazilian singer who came up through the axé scene in Salvador. He started out as a member of the band Parangolé before going solo around 2010. His breakout hit that year was 'A Comitiva,' which became an instant sensation and helped define his sound.
His music mixes the upbeat rhythms of axé with the more soulful melodies of sertanejo. Songs like 'Eu tô que tô,' 'Hoje é dia,' and 'Ligado Em Voce' show that blend clearly. He performs with a regular band that includes Durval Luz on keyboards, Marquinhos Costa on guitar, Fábio Souza on bass, and Fabiano Almeida on drums.
In 2013, Raes was in a serious car accident that forced him to take a break from performing. He eventually returned to the stage. He's also been known for his outspoken views on social issues, including support for the LGBTQ+ community, which has made him a somewhat polarizing figure in Brazil despite his popularity.
